Scenes from the RV

All ready to go!

Notice the children are in long sleeves, but no coats. Remember, this is Colorado. In January. Before the week was out, local schools would close for 2 consecutive days, not for snow, but for cold. My powers are awesome!

All ready for bed!

Boo was happy to finally be allowed to sit in the front seat!

He helped navigate, reading the Triptik and learning to follow along with the road signs. I could only hear snippets of conversation from where I was sitting, but I could tell that he and Philip were bonding. One conversation I remember was about the difference between spying and intelligence gathering. It all depends on who the bad guy is and who got caught.

Bip gets his turn at the wheel.

He said, “It’s on cruise control!” Pumpkin Girl replied, “That’s good because your feet don’t reach the pedals.” Siblings!

Pumpkin Girl enjoyed playing on the iPad while Phil drove.

Looking out of window during breakfast in Little Rock. It’d been raining for a few hours, with no end in sight.

More Mac and Cheese, please!

  • How fun! Do you think you’d rent an RV again? (or is it a rv since rv starts with a consonant?)

I don’t mind your powers over the weather and wouldn’t mind if you moved near me again so I wouldn’t have to deal with snow 🙂 .

  • How was it driving without the usual seatbelts and facing forward? I have often thought going for a long vacation drive in an RV would be more enjoyable than our minivan with tents. 🙂

I love the conversation topic between Boo and Philip– very much guy talk!

  • Michelle- it wasn’t too bad as far as seating arrangements went, but I wasn’t entirely comfortable with the seatbelt/carseats. We had Bip in his carseat at first, and he was traveling sideways. Once he got sick, we moved him out of his seat, into one of the bench seats that faced forward. He could look out the side window. Later he moved back to sideways facing seat, but because he’s small, could see out the front window. In both cases, he was wearing a regular lap belt.

Pipsqueak’s rear facing carseat was also on the sideways bench seat. It wasn’t nearly as secure as it should have been, but there was nowhere else to put it. I tried not to think about it.

We did enjoy the experience, overall. Much more comfortable than tent camping!

  • Kat – we would rent another RV, but probably only for camping, not as the means to just to get from one place to another. We think it’d be more fun to drive a day or two, camp for several days, then drive home. It’s expensive to fill the tank (we found out that the PX gas station cuts you off at $75, whether you’re full or not)! But we saved money by precooking dinners for our trip out and reheating them each night.
