The Homeschool Classroom

Angie at Many Little Blessings has started a new blog called The Homeschool Classroom. Guess who’s going to be one of the regularly contributing writers? Well, ME, of course! So if you can’t get enough of me here on the ol’ Mac and Cheese Chronicles, you can read more from me over there every Tuesday. I think I have Tuesdays. I have to double check. Anyway, I’ll be writing about whatever pops into my head that is homeschool related. I’ve got some topics lined up for the next few weeks, but if you’ve got any questions you’d like to see me answer, please let me know.

Seven Random Facts

The warmer weather is slow cooking my brain, so I haven’t come up with anything interesting to blog about lately. Trish in Honduras tagged me for this meme not too long ago, and now is as good a time as any to play along.

1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.

2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Seven things…hmm. So what haven’t I told you about already?

1. I can play this piece -Khachaturian Toccata- on the piano.

2. Ambitiously, I’d like to learn to play Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 (skip to about 6 minutes in for the fun parts)

3. Realistically, I could do this.

4. My hand is too small to play Liszt or Rachmanioff, thus dooming my career as a concert pianist.

(obsess much over the piano?)

5. I took French in high school.

6. I was ready to jump on stage and take up arms at the end of this scene of Les Miserable. Sometimes the French in me just takes over and wants to riot.

7. I think Boo takes after me in this respect:

Boo with Weapon

Out

My internet access is out, so I’m over at the base library.  Not the most ideal conditions, especially when, at the computer next to me, there are 2 sailors who are swearing, well, swearing like sailors.  Oh well, at least they are whispering.

I’m expecting the cable guy to show up tomorrow and hopefully he’ll fix the problem and I’ll be back online in my own home.  Without the internet, I’ve been working on this one troublesome Corner of My Home as well as updating my own history timeline.  I’ll share the results of my work as soon as I’m able.

Oh man, my stomach just growled really loudly.  How embarrassing. I’m pretty sure the only person who didn’t hear is that guy over there with the headphones on.  And now the sailors have left!  Maybe digestive juices are more offensive than the language they were using.

You know what though – the library is way quieter than my house.  Nobody here is saying, “Mama, guess what?”  Nobody is hungry.  (Well, they might be, but they don’t expect me to do anything about it.)  Nobody is hanging on the back of my chair, wondering what I’m doing.  Maybe this library thing isn’t so bad after all.

Inevitable

I guess it had to happen.  Winter is coming to an end and Spring is on its way.  For some people, this is welcome news and they embrace the warmer temperatures and lengthening days.  For me, it has the opposite effect.  Spring and Summer bring me down the way Winter does for others.  The warmer temps make me feel sluggish and tired.  The sun makes my skin itch.  Sigh.

Even in the blogosphere, signs of Spring are making an appearance.  Resigned to my fate, I have also changed my blog to reflect the season.  I do like the brighter, more playful colors.  I do have to apologize if you caught my blog mid-change a couple of days ago.  Philip arrived home while I was right in the middle of updating, and since we hadn’t seen him in 26 days, the blog had to wait.  I’m sure you’ll understand.

Anyway, if you’re reading through a feed reader or email subscription, come by and see my new Spring blog in person!  I read all of my blogs through a feed reader, too, so if you’ve also Springified your blog, leave me a comment so I can come by and see what you’ve done.

Ask Me Anything

Being short on time and creativity, I thought I’d try something that I have seen other bloggers do.  Even though I’m always open to questions and comments, I’m inviting you all to ask me anything you want.  Well almost anything.  Keep it PG.  I’ve got a spam filter that handles all of that for me nicely, but still.  I’ll answer as many questions as I can and post the answers next week.

Now here’s where the anxiety comes.  What if no one asks me anything? It would be like throwing a party and no one showed up.  But then at least I’d have a clean house and lots of food. I guess I could alway delete this post and pretend it never happened.  But that’s not what’s going to happen, right?  Right?

Well Give Me a Tophat

…and call me Frosty!

Renee has awarded me the Spirit of Christmas award!

This award is for those who talk about and show the spirit of Christmas in their blogs.

What is the Spirit of Christmas you ask?

Quite simply it is those that have a generous and giving nature. Those who care about others. Those who have a kind word to say or a broad shoulder to lean on in the times that others need that. Those who display the “Spirit of Christmas”.

I am giving it to five and you should too. Those that have touched your heart with their kind and giving and caring nature.

I’m awarding

Margaret of Minnesota Mom

Sandy of Falling Like Rain

Amy of Journaling Back to Joy

Keilani of An Island Life

and brand new blogger, Merry of Hope Connections.

I’ll Be Back

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more
I’m taking a short blogging break.  Between soccer practices and games, dance classes, scouts, school and life in general, I need to pay more attention to, ahem, the housework.  I also need to think about my blogging future.  I’ll be back in about a week.

The Perfect Post

I had the perfect post all composed and ready to type out this morning. (Did you know there’s even an award for that?) It was witty and upbeat, interesting and insightful. It was relevant to the times and on point to many a topic. The problem is, it was written at approximately 6:55 in the morning and I was still pretty much asleep at the time. (I’m not a morning person, ok?) In fact, I fell completely back to sleep to the sounds of the Jack Diamond Morning Show on my clock radio and woke up about 10 minutes later when Phil returned from his Cross Fit workout.

And I don’t even remember what my blog topic was. In fact, I didn’t remember that I had written something in my head until I sat down at the computer this morning at 8:30. All I remember is feeling pretty darn smug about already knowing what I was going to blog about today.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

So I will leave you with the Soccer Gem of the Week, as brought to you by Boo’s assistant coach:

Shoot the ball where the goalie isn’t.
