More Loveliness Fairs

livesoflovelinesslogo200612_2_2.jpgElizabeth at Real Learning has just posted the summer list of Loveliness Fairs. Make sure you go check it out and see which ones inspire you. I have signed up to host what else…The Loveliness of Clearing the Clutter! I think this one will be pretty popular – who doesn’t have some sort of clutter in their house?

Participating in the Loveliness Fairs is easy. Write a post on your blog that fits the theme. Submit your entry to the host by the deadline, then don’t forget to read all the other entries! If you don’t have a blog, you can usually submit pictures which the host will post for you.

Fun With Search Terms

My little site meter is so much fun! Beyond who’s visiting my site, when, how long and where they’re from, it also tells me if they found me through a search engine, and what they were searching for.

In no particular order, here are some of the fun searches people have done that led them to my blog.

1. Jimmy Hoffa. At least 2 or 3 times a month, someone comes to my little old blog looking for Jimmy Hoffa. He’s not here. In fact, nobody is sure where is he is. Well, I’m sure someone might know, but they’re not talking. Either way, let me tell you, he’s not on my blog.

2. Mac and Cheese scientific name. Huh? That seems a bit unusual. Just what sort of “scientific” research are you trying to do? Is this a school project? I am not the scientific type, so offhand, I don’t have the answer. However, I’m the language arts type, so I typed “mac and cheese” into a online English to Latin translator and came up with this: mac quod caseus. Hope that helps.

3. Lorri. Hi! Glad you found me, was I lost? I know we move around a lot, but I thought we do a good job keeping everyone up to date. Unless of course, we were trying to lose you.

4. Why child love mac and cheese. I would guess it’s the cheese, butter, cheese, milk and cheese.

5. Hairy monster. Nope, none here. Have you tried asking Jimmy Hoffa?

6. Pumpkin mac and cheese. May I suggest you make a pie or bread instead?

7. Do you have a picture of a can of franco-american mac and cheese in a can? Wow. That is the most complete search query I’ve ever seen. But sorry, no, I don’t have that picture.

8. Parenting mac and cheese. I guess I talk a lot about parenting on my blog, seeing as how I am a parent. In all honesty, though, I don’t parent the mac and cheese. I eat it.

8 Things to Love About Me

No doubt you’ve seen the “8 Things About Me” meme that’s been going around. Margaret, AKA Minnesota Mom, tagged me for this one. I’ve been pondering this for a few days, because I just don’t like to talk about myself at all have told you all just about everything already. Surely there is some tidbit of information about me that I haven’t divulged. So here we go…

“For this meme, each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.”

1. I went to the same high school as Kathy Ireland and Anthony Edwards. They are both older than me, but I had the same English teacher as Anthony Edwards. Do you all remember the band Toad the Wet Sprocket? Most of the members of that band also went to my high school and I was pretty good friends with the lead singer.

2. I have a degree in Speech Communications and I’ve been trained by the Army as a small group instructor. My husband was a debater in high school and also started a speech degree. Put us together and you get children who Never. Stop. Talking. Ever. They even talk in their sleep.

3. I’m short. Well, not just short, but short short. If you read the sign in the petite section of the store it says ” 5’4″ and under”. Which still leaves me with 4″ to hem off my pants.

4. I have been to North Korea, spent the night north of the Arctic Circle, seen pandas in China and walked across the Bridge Over the River Kwai.

5. Pancho Villa is rumored to be in my family tree. My grandpa swears that PV is my grandmother’s uncle. Then again, I’ve also heard him say that his grandmother rode with PV. Maybe that’s how he met my grandma? I swear I don’t make this stuff up.

6. I don’t like to cook.

7. I need to have a cup of vanilla chai every morning. This is a non-negotiable. Just one cup, though, or the dairy it contains will give me a stomachache.

8. I am a list maker and writer-down of everything. I keep a Mead notebook with dividers and pockets to help me keep track of things. I start a new one every year, with a different color cover than the year before. I started this about 3 years ago when one of my main grief symptoms was short term memory loss. I’ve always been a list writer, though, and having all my lists and reminders and random thoughts in one place has been very helpful. Now if only I could remember where I  put the darn thing…

Now this is the part where I’m supposed to tag 8 more people.  The problem is, the blogs I read are all read by the same people and I can’t remember who’s been tagged already.  Plus, Some Other People that I’d love to tag don’t have blogs.  I’m talking to you, Carol and Jen(s).  So here’s the deal, if you’re reading this -Tag!, you’re it!  Now go out and start yerself a free blog and get busy.

Reminder

Please check which feed you’re subscribed to. In whichever feed reader you are using, there should be a link saying something like “edit feed” or “edit subscription.” Your feed should only be one of these two:

http://themacandcheesechronicles.com/feed/

or

http://feeds.feedburner.com/themacandcheesechronicles/TIIz

All other feeds will cease to exist once I delete my typepad blog.

I moved again!

Well, I made the switched to WordPress and hopefully this will be my last ever blog move. The only way to reach this blog now is www.themacandcheesechronicles.com.

Here is the correct feed for the new location: http://themacandcheesechronicles.com/feed/ which should work with Bloglines, Google reader or which ever feed reader makes you happy. Thanks for sticking with me.

I think I’ll like my new home. Almost everything is moved over, I just need to hang some pictures – literally- and paint and put up curtains. As soon as I get it all figured out, it’ll pretty much look like my old blog or better.

Be Right Back

I’m working on some changes here at the ol’ Mac and Cheese Chronicles. Stay with me, I’ll be right back!

If you’re reading this on a feedreader, you might want to mark this post  Keep As New or star it or something.  If you don’t see a new post from me by Friday (5-18), then click here: The Mac and Cheese Chronicles for an update.  Thanks

I Better Get Busy!

I’d really better get busy!  I’ve got some deadlines I’m working against and I don’t want to miss them.  First, the 30 Day Organizational Challenge deadline is May 3rd.  I’ve been working hard on our playroom and need to take pictures and write a post about it tomorrow.  Then there is the Loveliness of Gardens fair on Monday, so I need to finish planting flowers and take pictures and post about that.  And Jamie asked me about using Sonlight and being Catholic and I’d like to give her a nice, thought out answer.  But most importantly, Boo’s First Communion banner is due on Saturday.  I guess it’s time to get off the computer.

Whatcha Reading?

I got tagged by Muddy Boots to share my reading list.  Which leads me to wonder – am I supposed to be reading?  I love to read and used to read all the time until certain small people started showing up in my life and demanding my full attention.  The littlest one is particularly demanding in that he requires my presence during his entire nap.  I used to really fight hard against this, but the Good Lord pointed out to me that this was a great way for me to do more reading and also to take my own nap, if needed.

So without further ado, my current reading list is:

1.  The Sonlight Catalog.  Really.  I love this catalog.  I love to read the articles printed in it, if only to confirm for the millionth time why I chose Sonlight.  I love to read the Cores that are ahead of us, and just dream of all the wonderful books we’ll get to enjoy.  I like to look for pictures of families that I "know" from the Sonlight Forums.  It just makes me happy.

2.  Real Learning.  Catholic and Charlotte Mason homeschooling.  This book just soothes my frazzled nerves and puts me back on track when things start to go astray.

3. The Purpose Driven Life.  I have never read this one.  I happened to sit down next to a bookshelf on the day after Easter and noticed this book on our shelf.  I grabbed it for nap time and when I started reading, I discovered that it is a 40 day devotional!  Perfect, I could start that very day and wrap up at Pentecost.  I have enjoyed this book so much, that every day I think, "oh, I should blog about that!"  But then I realized that I would end up quoting the book so much as to be in danger of copyright violations.  I am looking forward to re-reading it in another season of my life, when I can write down my thoughts without trying to keep still and not wake the baby sleeping next to me.

4. Faith and Family magazine and The Old Schoolhouse magazine.  I’ll count them as one since they aren’t books.

So there you have it!  In turn, I’m tagging Rosetta Stone, Minnesota Mom, and Falling Like Rain.
